Sewing course (Tabitha project)

Free 3-month sewing courses in Kigali – career prospects and economic independence for young women.

About the project

Rwanda has an alarmingly high number of young people – especially women – without school qualifications, which makes it hard to provide for their families. Our goal is to create career prospects and economic independence through free sewing courses.

The skills learned enable graduates to create their own products, opening new income opportunities and building confidence and independence. Families are stabilised, and economic success fosters new forms of social cooperation.

Course details

Free training for all: The 3-month sewing courses take place in Kigali under qualified instructors.

Besides practical sewing skills we teach entrepreneurial know-how – from marketing products to starting small businesses.

The course ends with a certificate ceremony. When funds allow, graduates receive the sewing machine they trained on – another step toward independence.

The cost of a course including a sewing machine is €600 per participant.
